The pivotal point of this project is the media' s selection, angling and manipulation of the news.
The Neon Light Newspaper is owned by one of the main Danish tabloids and is viewed by thousands of people every day. It conveys the news in a short and very dramatic form, which we found interesting to deconstruct. We analysed the language of the headlines displayed throughout one month and created five sentences to be shown randomly between the other news. 

The Danish sentences loosely translated into English:

Inat: Tunnelulykke, klyngebomber, militærstøtte med urent vand til følge ≈ Tonight: Tunnel accident, cluster bombs, military support resulting in impure water

Tilløbsstykke styrer borgerne gennem afskyeligt hævnangreb på intolerance ≈ Sensation leads the citizens through disgusting revenge attack on intolerance 

Tragisk gale fartbøller rammer fremmedhadskøen ≈ Tragically angry speed hogs hit the xenophobia queue 

Familiesammenføring rodet ind i sanitet: Frynsegode pønser på idiot-aktivering ≈ Family reunion involved in sanitary: Fringe benefit considers idiot-activation 

Skattefri invalid optrevles: mistanke om hætteklædt borgmester ≈ Tax-free disabled person unravelled: suspicion of hooded mayor

In 2020, Hesselholdt & Mejlvang made a new project at the same site as part of the solo show Soft power - a silent battle for hearts and minds in Politikens Forhal.
