Living Room, 2010

Mixed media. 270 x 500 x 350 cm.
The installation is produced in collaboration with furniture and textile designers from TEKO Design + Business School: Sarafina Liv Taudal Andersen, Anna Maagaard Kristiansen, Büsra Anik, Christian Barnkob and Michael Schougaard Svane.

A little white house with windows and a door is placed in the corner of the exhibition room. The curtains are drawn. A seemingly pleasant living room meets the viewer when entering. The room is arranged with everyday furniture – an armchair, a glass table, carpet, pillows and shelves held in red, white and black colours. But closer inspection soon reveals that something is wrong in the room. Horribly wrong.
A chest freezer is placed in the corner behind a transparent curtain, accompanied by a strange box in white leather and a white coat. The floor is apparently covered with an ordinary carpet, but the design rather resembles a drawing maelstrom. The curtains and pillows are adorned by a pattern that shows implements of torture artfully twined in intricate constellations.
Thanks to TEKO, Egetæpper and Montana.
